Elina Svitolina breaks into World Top 20
Elina Svitolina’s incredible rise to the top of the game has continued in dramatic fashion during 2015, with our youngest ellesse tennis star breaking into the world’s top 20 as early in the season as April. Elina has moved up the rankings to sit at #19, matching the best ever ranking achieved by a Ukrainian.
En route to this incredible achievement, Elina won her third WTA singles title, claiming victory in Marrakech, adding Africa’s only WTA tournament to her growing trophy cabinet. In a tense 7-5 7-6(3) victory over Timea Babos, Elina was forced to show her amazing big-game mentality and save set points in both sets. Her record in finals is now an outstanding three victories and zero defeats.
Elina sits in the top 20 as the second youngest player, hungry to achieve further glory during the second half of the season and step closer to her ultimate career objective – becoming the world’s best player!
We’ll catch up with her after Roland Garros and check in on her preparations for the most prestigious title in tennis: Wimbledon.
