Feliciano Lopez named Best Dressed at Australian Open 2015

It seems that eyes were on more than just Feliciano Lopez’s skills on court in January, as Lopez successfully scooped the coveted Tennis.com title of ‘Best Dressed Man’ at the Australian Open 2015.

The kit, worn by Feliciano in both blue/white and yellow/white colour ways during the first major of the year, was a perfect match to the colour of the court and the bright Aussie sun – an article written for the official Australian Open website referred to how “Italian brand Ellesse found the perfect shade of blue to match Feliciano’s eyes and a yellow to put our golden sun to shame”. The kit undoubtedly celebrates the best of ellesse: colour, style and functionality.

Feliciano himself stated “I’m a big fan of the new ellesse kit, and the EZ-Move technology and cooling fabric will be great for the Australian Open, where on-court conditions can be hotter than anywhere else in the world.” The technology in the kit itself includes 3D cutting in the underarm, groin and knee areas to maximise limb movement and overall flexibility, combined with a clothing cut and pattern that prevents interference and restriction even in the most flamboyant of tennis shots. An added benefit is that the kit allows the body temperature to stay lower due to water repellent, cooling properties within the material. We are in no doubt Feli set pulses racing and temperatures rising with his performance and appearance in the kit throughout the Grand Slam!

The ellesse Australian Open kit was unveiled on 17 January by Feliciano and our two female ambassadors Elina Svitolina and Monica Puig, who were equally as excited to wear the kit in the first major of the season. Monica said “ellesse have been a leader in on-court fashion for decades and I’m delighted to be wearing the brand’s new clothing for 2015. I love the colours and fit of the new kits.”

The three players joined Australian tennis legend Pat Cash and Melbourne graffiti artist Daniel Wenn to paint a piece of street art, close to Melbourne’s famous Hosier Lane.  Watch our ambassadors getting creative in their new kit here.

In addition to being worn by ellesse sponsored players on court, the performance wear will also be available in ellesse markets around the world after the Open.
